About us Our people Meet the management team Our management team makes sure that all our services run smoothly and staff are supported in their work. C A O'Connor - Chief Executive Officer Caroline joined Migrant Help in March 2017 as the Chief Operating Officer and became the CEO in January 2020. Her focus, integrity and commitment ensure that Migrant Help is able to do the most good it can for our clients. Her background is in finance and operations, her last position before joining Migrant Help was Finance and Operations Director for a children’s hospice in London. She studied economics and law, later moving to finance and accountancy. Helen Bransfield – Director of Asylum Services Helen joined Migrant Help in December 2014. When she first joined she was responsible for the Telephone Advice Line, but gradually her role widened to include our Compliance Team and Syrian Resettlement scheme in areas of Essex and Kent. In 2019, Helen became our Director of Asylum Services. Before joining Migrant Help, Helen worked in various operational and organisational roles. Freshmind Chauke – Regional Manager Liverpool Freshmind joined Migrant Help in 2014. He is the Regional Operations Manager for Liverpool, responsible for overseeing the delivery of asylum services in this region as well as leading and managing a very experienced asylum services team. Nicola Davies – Head of Specialised Services and Submissions Nicola joined Migrant Help in 2014, starting out as part of our Administration team. Nicola quickly moved over to our Helpline and became a Team Leader before moving on to be our National Outreach Manager. Nicola became a Head of Service in 2019 and is currently our Head of Specialised Services and Submissions. In this role she manages the National Outreach, Service Commissioning, Move on and Submission Services. Nicola ensures all of her services are delivered to the highest standard and delivery is consistent across all services nationally. Jemal Dragoshi – Regional Manager West Midlands Jemal joined Migrant Help in 2014. He is the Regional Operations Manager for West Midlands, responsible for overseeing the delivery of asylum services in this region as well as leading and managing a very experienced team based in Birmingham. Jemal has worked in the charity sector since 1999 with different organisations in various roles. Prior to joining Migrant Help, he worked with British Refugee Council as a volunteer coordinator. Juliet Halstead - Deputy Director of Asylum Services Juliet joined Migrant Help in June 2020 as Deputy Director of Asylum Services. In her role she is responsible for the Asylum Services regional operations, working closely with the Heads of Service – Marsela, Anna and Tesfay, to deliver a strong, consistent and collaborative approach in all eight regional offices. Juliet and her team work in partnership with the accommodation providers, health teams and the voluntary and community sector, with the ultimate aim of delivering the best possible outcomes to our clients, whilst also delivering a contractual, compliant and efficient service. Juliet has over 17 years of experience from the asylum accommodation sector, including her most recent role as the Head of Partnerships at Mears. During her time within the asylum accommodation, she has built strong relationships with both the voluntary and community sector and the Home Office. Denise Farrell - Financial Controller Denise joined Migrant Help in August 2019 as Financial Controller, overseeing the operation of the Finance Team and ensuring that it supports both internal and external customers. Since completing her studies in Accounting & Finance in 2006, Denise has worked as Financial Controller across many different industries, such as education and hospitality. Marsela Hoxha – Head of Regional Services, Relationships and Partnerships Marsela joined us in April 2014. She is the Head of Regional Services, Relationships and Partnerships covering the regions of North East, Yorkshire and Humberside, North West and West Midlands. In her role Marsela oversees the asylum initial accommodation sites in Liverpool, Wakefield and Birmingham. Marsela ensures that our asylum services are delivered according to agreed processes in an accurate, professional and consistent way, while adapting to any changes in demand, requirements or regulations. A big part of the role is building relationships with key stakeholders in their respective areas. Before joining Migrant Help, Marsela worked for Refugee Council. Stephanie Jenkins – Regional Manager Wales Stephanie joined Migrant Help in 2020. She is the Regional Operations Manager for Wales, responsible for overseeing the delivery of asylum services in this region as well as leading and managing a very experienced team based in Cardiff. Stephanie has worked in the charity sector since 2006, first specialising in domestic abuse then serious crime. In 2008, she joined Victim Support and managed Victim Services across both Wales and the West Midlands. She is passionate about empowering vulnerable individuals and leading a team to achieve excellent results. Florence Kibwota – Regional Operations Manager - London & South East Florence has a lot of working experience in homelessness, poverty prevention and with refugees. She has a wealth of experience in various management roles, supporting service delivery, partnership work and contracts compliance. Florence has also led on various contracts across several London Boroughs. She has worked with vulnerable adults and young people who have experienced complex trauma. Previously she has worked for Housing Associations such as Metropolitan Housing and the Refugee Housing Association. She has also worked with the Refugee Council and Centre Point, and she joined Migrant Help from the YMCA. Florence is very passionate about supporting vulnerable people and the use of asset based approaches. Her knowledge base is in People Management, Housing and Social Care. Jitka Minxova – Head of Communications Jitka leads Migrant Help’s communications team responsible for the charity’s internal and external communications. She first joined the organisation in 2010, starting as a Community Liaison Officer before moving into communications. Before joining Migrant Help, Jitka worked as an event manager in the hospitality sector. Stephen Newton - Regional Manager, Trafficking Support Services Scotland Stephen joined Migrant Help in early 2020 as the Regional Manager for the Trafficking Support Services Scotland. His day-to-day role involves overseeing support services for survivors of human trafficking victims across Scotland. Prior to joining Migrant Help, Stephen worked in various roles on the UK’s national Modern Slavery Helpline (run by anti-trafficking charity Unseen), ultimately supervising operations on the Helpline. Before that, he worked for the British Red Cross and Glasgow-based charity Uniting Nations in Scotland (UNIS). Tariro Nhari – Regional Manager East Midlands Tariro joined Migrant Help in 2018 when the new Derby office was opened. She is the Regional Manager for East Midlands, responsible for overseeing the delivery of asylum services within the region and leading a dedicated team of staff in Derby. Tariro has worked in the charity sector since 2010 and has held various roles, both client-facing and managerial, supporting people with various vulnerabilities. Tariro is passionate about supporting and empowering vulnerable individuals. Prior to joining Migrant Help, Tariro worked with British Red Cross in the Refugee Support Team. Daisy Noble - Deputy Director of Asylum Remote Services Daisy joined Migrant Help in 2015, starting out as a Telephone Adviser before becoming a Team Leader. Daisy was one of the mobilisation leads for our Asylum Services contract and in 2019 became the Head of Advice Line. In this role she manages the EAGL team and works closely with our First Response Centre, adapting and reacting quickly to changes in demand, volumes and processes. Daisy works to ensure the service provided is to the highest standard and service delivery is consistent and professional across all our teams and departments. Rabiya Ravat – Director of MSVC and VPRS Services Rabiya joined Migrant Help in 2018. She is the Deputy Director of National Operations, responsible for the management and development of Migrant Help’s Victims of Slavery Support Services. Before joining Migrant Help, Rabiya spent many years setting up and managing the Victim Support Contract across England and Wales and working with subcontracted partners to deliver support services to victims of modern slavery. Aaron Read – Head of IT Aaron joined Migrant Help in April 2018. He manages all of the organisation's IT systems, ensuring we can support our clients and provide an excellent service. Before joining Migrant Help, Aaron worked for several years in the Financial and Gaming sector. Deborah Rowan - AIRE Guidance Manager Deborah Rowan joined Migrant Help 20 years ago. She has worked in various roles across the organisation during this time. She now works as the AIRE Guidance Manager. In this role she provides advice and support to caseworkers and team leaders within Migrant Help around complex cases. She is also responsible for creating effective working relationships with key stakeholders. Fiona Stephens - HR Director Fiona joined Migrant Help in September 2019 as HR Director. She is responsible for all things people in the organisation, in particular the delivery of the people strategy and creating a ‘Great Place To Work’ at Migrant Help. Fiona has had a long and varied career in the public sector including the civil service, NHS and the British Council. Holding an MBA and MCIPD, she has worked in HR, organisational development, change management and internal consultancy her whole career. Steve Sellen – Head of Facilities and OHS Steve joined Migrant Help in 2002. He has held several roles since joining us and is currently responsible for building services and maintenance across the organisation's estate. Steve is also responsible for the oversight and provision of health and safety advice to senior and operational management. Tesfay Waldemichael – Head of Regional Services, Relationships and Partnerships Tesfay joined Migrant Help in April 2014. He is the Head of Regional Services, Relationships and Partnerships covering Scotland and Northern Ireland with the respective asylum initial accommodation arrangements. Tesfay ensures that our asylum services are delivered according to agreed processes in an accurate, professional and consistent way, while adapting to any changes in demand, requirements or regulations. A big part of the role is building relationships with key stakeholders in their respective areas. Tesfay has been working with refugees and asylum seekers both in UK and overseas for more than 20 years. He was with Scottish Refugee Council for 14 years before joining Migrant Help. Anna Ware – Director of Strategy and Engagement Anna joined Migrant Help in 2018 as Director of their social enterprise Clear Voice Interpreting Services. She became Director of Strategy and Engagement in 2020 and her role is to progress the Migrant Help Strategy 2020-2023, explore growth opportunities and develop new and existing partnerships with the sector. Anna built a career in business before deciding to change direction, starting with a role in grassroots community engagement. She has since worked in areas of health, poverty, environment and education, and gained an MSc in Voluntary and Community Sector Studies. Melvin Witt – Director of Finance, Infrastructure and Quality Melvin joined Migrant Help in 2017 as Financial Controller. He became Director of Finance, Infrastructure and Quality in 2020. His role is to oversee the strategic direction and performance of the Finance, IT & Data, Facilities & OHS, Commercial and Quality Assurance operations. Before joining Migrant Help, Melvin completed his professional accountancy training in practice before working in roles in the education sector with organisations that held charitable status.
