Quiet Courage by Meiko Speaking to vulnerable people, hearing difficult stories, and supporting them through uncertainty. reminds me of my struggles through life with my son. It would have been great to have someone on the end of a phone who could help with the struggles and challenges we went through. The idea of “a steady voice on the other end of the line” directly reflects this. My poem centres on listening, patience, and kindness—things that don’t always get recognised but make a real difference. It acknowledges the SELF COURAGE it takes to keep going, even when situations are heavy or unclear—something we experience regularly in safeguarding and support calls. My message highlights that courage isn’t about being seen or celebrated—it’s about consistently showing up for others, even when you know, no one notices. Resilience is required to get on in this world. Courage by Meiko Courage is not always loud. It lives in quiet moments— in listening, in showing up, in choosing kindness again. It is the strength to keep going when the path is uncertain, to speak when words feel heavy, or to simply be. Courage is found in every small step forward— and in standing beside others as they find their way. Manage Cookie Preferences
