Connecting the Sector Connecting the Sector is a series of themed events exploring topics which are currently affecting refugees and people seeking asylum. These events are aimed as grassroot charities and community organisations which work within the immigration and asylum support sectors. The purpose of these conferences is to facilitate regular events which build a community of best practice sharing through the amazing work being done in the sector. It is also a chance to network, collaborate and work together to achieve shared goals. Expert speakers hold talks, workshops and activities sharing advice, resources and providing tangible takeaways for all attendees to use in their work. Organisations are invited to bring leaflets and information about their own services and take part in facilitated networking sessions. The event series includes annual conferences which are themed ‘Supporting Young and Displaced People’ with a specific focus on issues faced by young people in the asylum system. Topics and themes are chosen based on feedback from our attendees, as well as common and current challenges faced by the sector. Previous themes have included topics like age assessment, amplifying the voices of those with lived experience, partnership working, volunteering, bid writing and more. We hold events in different locations across the UK to ensure accessibility for a wide range of organisations. Our upcoming events for 2026 - 2027 are: April 2026 - Safety and Protection (London) June 2026 - Supporting Young and Displaced People with Identity (Birmingham) September 2026 - Reducing Exploitation (Glasgow) January 2027 - Influencing Policy (Liverpool) Register now to join the mailing list and be invited to future events.
