This month Madhavi Vadera chaired her first meeting as the new Chair of Trustees for Migrant Help. Madhavi joins our committed board with proven experience as a Finance Director, business consultant and strategist. Her wealth of experience and skills will add significant value to our work of protecting people affected by displacement and exploitation in the UK.

Madhavi is the Deputy CEO and Trustee of Lifelines International Fund for Education, a UK registered charity that supports transformational education projects focussed on vulnerable children and women. She also works as a psychotherapist specialising in working with unaccompanied refugee minors. Madhavi Vadera said: As a refugee myself and a human rights champion, I feel absolutely committed to empowering the lives of the very people who start their journey towards safety and hope by contacting Migrant Help.’

We are grateful to Lucy Bracken, our previous chair, for 6 years of service and support to the charity.  Lucy oversaw significant growth and change at Migrant Help during her term. We thank Lucy deeply for her commitment to Migrant Help’s mission and wish her all the best for the future. Lucy Bracken said: ‘I am proud to have been part of an organisation that passionately and relentlessly supports asylum seekers, refugees and victims of modern slavery. It has been an honour to be part of Migrant Help.’

Caroline O’Connor, Chief Executive of Migrant Help, said: ‘It was a privilege to have worked with Lucy and she will be greatly missed. I look forward to working closely with Madhavi, as we deal with the aftermath of the global pandemic, upcoming changes in legislation and start developing our new strategy.’
